CUSTOM BANJO

My banjo was built in 1983 by Bill Sullivan, founder of First Quality Musical Supplies in Louisville, KY.

Bill carved the neck and peghead and fit it to the 3-ply maple rim.

I cut and inlaid all the mother of pearl for the fingerboard and peghead, applied the bindings and the 2 rings on the back of the resonator, and finished the banjo with clear lacquer.

I always wished I had stained the banjo with a sunburst, but with the rings on the back I knew it would be beyond my abilities. 22 years later, I decided to restore the banjo, so I had Leo Posch do all the staining and finishing.
